
Dhanashri Brahme currently serves as the Chief of Programmes at Magic Bus India Foundation. A highly accomplished professional with a distinguished career that spans nearly three decades, she has been associated with the organisation since 2019. She holds a degree from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has demonstrated expertise in gender, health, micro-finance, and adolescent empowerment.
Dhanashri embarked on a journey in the social impact sector, driven by a desire to make tangible real-world contributions following the completion of her Psychology major. A large part of her experience has been with the United Nations, specifically with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), leading the gender and rights portfolio and overall programme coordination. Her commitment to addressing societal challenges is evident through her specialization in gender-biased sex selection since 2004. She has established a substantial body of knowledge on this emerging issue, showcasing her dedication to understanding and combating gender-based disparities.
Additionally, her work involves a deep understanding of effective interventions to empower young women and adolescent girls, reflecting her passion for fostering positive change. Collaborating with the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India, she focused on micro-finance and women's empowerment. Her approach emphasizes the importance of need-based and community-led interventions, focusing on investing in adolescents and young people, particularly girls. Dhanashri's multifaceted experience encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including strengthening stakeholder ownership, capacity-building, programme design, and organisational development.
