Dr. T. Sumathy (a) Thamizhachi Thangapandian is a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha from the South Chennai constituency, and a distinguished poet, writer, academic and cultural voice. With a PhD in English Literature and a long career in academia and literature, she has authored 29 books and has received several literary honours. In Parliament, she focuses on education, women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, public health and social justice, while also working to preserve and promote Tamil culture and heritage.
