
Tejasvi Surya is a Lok Sabha Member of Parliament, serving his second term from the Bengaluru South Parliamentary Constituency. Surya is currently serving on several parliamentary committees, such as the member of the Committee on Public Accounts and the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change. He was also a member of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Chairman of the Select Committee on the Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2025 and the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019. He is a lawyer by training and profession, and the founding partner of Trust Law, a law firm engaged in various matters of public importance. In his work as a Parliamentarian, Surya has contributed to landmark legislative initiatives, including the Digital Personal Data Protection framework and the Waqf Amendment legislation. For his city Bengaluru, Surya champions causes concerning urban mobility, affordable healthcare and quality education. His work towards expanding Bengaluru’s Metro network and promoting access to affordable healthcare through Janaushadhi Kendras, where generic medicines are available at affordable rates, are notable examples of his efforts. Bengaluru South has the highest number of Janaushadhi kendras across India. In recognition of his work as a legislator, he was conferred the coveted Best Debutant Parliamentarian of the Year Award by the Lokmat Group in March 2023. Beyond his political and professional responsibilities, Tejasvi Surya is an active triathlete and fitness enthusiast. He became the first Indian Parliamentarian to complete the Ironman Triathlon. Surya has a deep interest in history, philosophy, science and civilisational studies.
