Jagan Shah works at the intersections of urban policy, planning, finance and governance. He led India's National Institute of Urban Affairs, co-created the Smart Cities Mission, and advised the UK government, the World Bank and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. At NIUA, he launched initiatives for digital governance, child-friendly cities, urban resilience, accessible cities and transit-oriented development that have evolved into national priorities and programmes. He is currently preoccupied with preparing a planning framework for Himalayan cities, a NITI Aayog initiative. Shah is a full-time Professor of Practice at the TRIP Centre in IIT Delhi and serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy. He studied architecture in Delhi and architectural history and theory in Cincinnati and New York.
