Pooja Kumari belongs to a family of 4 members. Her father has been working as a labourer for the past 12 years, while her mother is a homemaker. She has a brother who is pursuing a course in accounting.
Although some people in her family and relatives do not support her dreams and career aspirations, her parents have always stood by her and encouraged her to move forward. Her parents' expectations are also different from each other: her father wants her to get married in the coming years, while her mother's dream is for Pooja to achieve her goal.
Pooja Kumari wants to become a teacher in the future. Her dream of building a career in the field of education constantly motivates her to work hard and move towards her goal. Alongside her studies, she is also focused on developing her skills and experience.
Pooja learned about UNICEF's Digital Girls Hub programme from a friend who was herself taking a course at the centre. On the advice of the VLE, she joined this programme.
According to her, the course was simple, useful, and easy to complete. In particular, the modules of the "How to Get a Job" course gave her important information related to employment, which helped in her personal and career development.
After successfully completing the training and certification, Pooja was appointed as a Career Counsellor at Rajiv Gandhi Computer. She currently earns a monthly salary of ₹9,500.
As a fresher, Pooja is satisfied with her job. The organisation is a private coaching centre, where she is gaining professional experience while working. This job is not only helping her become financially independent but is also playing an important role in supporting her family.
Today, Pooja Kumari is continuously working towards realising her dream of becoming a teacher. The Digital Girls Hub programme and the employment she gained have boosted her confidence and inspired her to move forward with greater determination for her future. Her story shows that with the right guidance, family support, and hard work, young women can turn their dreams into reality.
