Pranjal Patil (IAS)

Pranjal Patil is an Indian Administrative Service officer of the 2017 AGMUT cadre and currently serves as Special Director in the Women & Child Development Department, Delhi, a position she assumed in June 2026. She previously served as Additional Director (Administration) in the Directorate of Education, Delhi, and has held field assignments including Sub-Collector of Thiruvananthapuram and District Magistrate of Ernakulam. She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and an M.Phil. in West Asian Studies.

Ms. Patil is widely recognised as India’s first visually impaired woman to join the Indian Administrative Service. She lost her vision at the age of six and went on to pursue her education at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai and Jawaharlal Nehru University. She cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination on her second attempt in 2017, securing an All India Rank of 124, after securing Rank 744 in her first attempt. Her career reflects a strong commitment to public administration and inclusive governance.
